Dubai Association Centre reaches out to Asian associations market

DUBAI, 6th April, 2015 (WAM) — In its quest to reach out to the Asian market outside the US, the Dubai Association Centre, DAC, recently participated in the ASAE Great Ideas Asia Pacific Conference in Hong Kong to promote the Centre as an association hub for the Middle East region.

DAC’s participation came as part of its efforts to raise awareness of the benefits of joining the Centre to US and Asian Pacific associations while establishing relationships with them for future partnerships and inbound delegations as well as to position Dubai as a possible destination to host future American Society of Association Executives, ASAE, events.

The ASAE Great Ideas Asia Pacific Conference, organised by the American Society of Association Executives outside the US, was attended by 175 participants from 16 countries.

DAC, a joint initiative of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, DTCM, and Dubai World Trade Centre, DTWC, has been established to offer assistance for the formation and development of associations in the UAE and beyond.

Being the region’s unique model, the centre provides assistance to trade, scientific and business associations to set up office space, obtain visas for staff, establish local bank accounts, and develop their activities and membership in Dubai and the wider Middle East region.

Hassan Al Hashemi, Member of the Executive Committee of DAC and Vice President of International Relations, Dubai Chamber, said that DAC officials met over 100 association executives, 60% of the conference participants, interested in expanding their activities abroad, particularly in the Middle East, while answering their queries about the services offered as well as briefing them on the conditions and requirements of registration to join the centre.

Al Hashemi went on to say that DAC’s participation in the conference was very successful as the centre achieved its purpose of promoting Dubai as a gateway to markets in the region and to raise awareness of the DAC brand and its potential to attract Asian associations to expand their membership through the Middle East region.

“As the official licensing authority for non-profit, apolitical and non-religious professional associations and trade bodies in Dubai, DAC also used its participation in the conference to strengthen its partnership with the ASAE and the Union of International Association, UIA, to discuss the hosting of their forthcoming events in Dubai which is a major centre for hosting global events, exhibitions and conferences,” said Al Hashemi, adding that worldwide, associations are major generators of conferences and exhibitions, with about 90% of these events organised by associations.

Last year, DAC participated in American Society of Association Executives Global Symposium in Washington, DC, as well as the ASAE Annual Meeting and Exposition held in the US city of Nashville, and conducted two roadshows in Geneva and Brussels.
