London, May 18th 2015 – St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT), hosted the eighth annual St. Regis International Cup on Saturday, May 16th 2015 at Cowdray Park Polo Club, West Sussex. With St. Regis Connoisseur Nacho Figueras playing in The Americas against the England team, the opening match in the UK International Series saw England triumph over The Americas with six goals to three.

VIP guests included Jamie Cullum, Keren Craig, Georgina Chapman, Joanne Froggatt, Laura Carmichael, Laura Jackson, Daniella Helayel, Tiphaine de Lussy, Camilla Al Fayed, Tamara Beckwith, Blaise Patrick, Sai Bennett, Joseph Mawle, Laura Whitmore, Nick Moran. Jamie Cullum is currently at the helm of the newly launched “Jazz Legends at St. Regis” series and Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig from fashion house Marchesa, have recently been appointed as St. Regis Connoisseurs.

Leading England in the number 3 shirt was 7 goal player James Beim, who has taken over the England captaincy in 2015. He was joined at number 1 by 6 goal player Tom Morley and at number 2 by Max Charlton, at 24 years of age considered to be one of England’s rising stars. The experienced James Harper, 7 goals played at back, completing a strong 26 goal line up. As in previous years, St. Regis Connoisseur, Ignacio Nacho Figueras featured in The Americas team, which was captained by 8 goal Chillean player Jaime Huidobro.

After a slow start in the first chukka, The Americas opened the scoreboard in the second chukka and it was three all at half time. However, after half time England managed to get into a rhythm and Tom Morley, who was substituting for an injured Richard le Poer, had an outstanding game. England secured the final 6-3 win in the last chukkas.

Watching from the St. Regis hospitality marquee, VIP guests experienced traditional brand rituals, including the St. Regis signature Bloody Mary cocktail, first concocted at The St. Regis New York 80 years ago. The distinguished spectators and their families were also treated to the legendary St. Regis Afternoon Tea, which included tea, sandwiches, English tartlets and scones with strawberry preserve and lemon curd, as well as Veuve Clicquot champagne – the perfect accompaniments to the traditional half time divot stomp.
