Sudan deploys troops in Yemen to back Arab efforts to restore legitimacy to Yemen

Aden,Yemen – Sudanese troops from all service branches have deployed across Yemen to take part in the Saudi-led Arab Coalition’s military operations alongside troops of other Arab countries.

Commander of the Sudanese forces in Yemen said Sudan is participating in Arab Coalition’s operations as part of a duty towards Yemeni brothers and the responsibility of all Arabs towards each other.

“The people of Sudan and the Sudanese armed forces share the duty of backing the legitimate causes of their brothers and counter attempts to break up Arab countries and undermine their security and stability,” he added.

A military commander of a Sudanese unit said that Sudanese soldiers and other Arab soldiers are fighting in the same trench to serve the cause of their nation. He added, “Sudanese troops are working with their Arab brothers in the Coalition to restore legitimacy to Yemen.”

The Arab Coalition, he further noted, shows this “pan-Arab dream of forming a pan-Arab military force”. This, the commander added, was shown by the armed forces of the United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sudan and other Coalition members working with the Yemeni armed forces.

The Sudanese Armed Forces, which played a role in regaining the Sinai Peninsula during the Arab-Israeli War in October 1973, will be able to carry out all military missions in Yemen. WAM/MMYS
