Background Note: The International Defense Exhibition and Conference is being held in Abu Dhabi, UAE at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Center. Today was the first day of the event and it runs from Feb22.-Feb26.

IDEX will be the largest defense exhibition and conference ever held in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

This event will provide military officials and government organizations to source technology and equipment for defense.

The exhibition will showcase the most advanced defense equipment, services and solutions.

Approximately 1,200 companies will showcase their latest products and offerings in the field of defense and security over an area of 133,000 square meters that will include both indoor and outdoor displays.


 Saudi company gets contract from Boeing on the opening day of IDEX, 2015

ABU DHABI, 22nd February, 2015  — Advanced Electronics Company, AEC, a Saudi-based company, announced today that it has been awarded a sub-contract from Boeing to assemble, test and provide logistical support for the Apache simulators in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The assembly and test of the simulators will be completed at the AEC headquarters facility in Riyadh, where the company has invested in a special facility to perform assembly, test and simulator training.

The project will demonstrate AEC’s capability and ability to transfer the technology of high level military products and systems, the company said in an announcement on the inaugural day of IDEX- 2015, here at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre.

Dr. Ghassan Al-Shibl, President and CEO of AEC said that the contract will enhance the company’s capability in systems repair, support, modification and development.
