Punta del Este 365 on the agenda – Liberoff met in Berlin with Secretary General of World Tourism Organization

During the ITB Berlin 2015, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Benjamin Liberoff, and the head of the World Tourism Organization, Taleb Rifai, held a meeting.

The leaders discussed the “Punta del Este 365” accessibility to people with disabilities tourism, energy use in rural tourism establishments and upcoming events of international organization project.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MINTURD), Benjamin Liberoff, met with Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Jordanian Taleb Rifai, under the Fair ITB Berlin that developed in the capital German, between 4 and 8 March. There, Liberoff led integrated by public and private operators industry delegation.

In the interview Liberoff and Rifai they discussed the adjustments to the work the agency has been done on the project “Punta del Este 365” in order to present at the fair in World Trade Market to be held between 2 and 5 November in London .

“Punta del Este 365” is an initiative that brings together the public and private sectors to develop and implement spa designed to overcome the seasonal products.

It focuses on sports tourism, meetings and links between food, agriculture and tourism.

Previously, Rifai had described the project as “a useful tool that will help to destinations worldwide to find effective solutions to address seasonality”.

Liberoff noted that during the meeting the need to advance the accessibility to tourism for people with disabilities, an area in which the ministry has developed actions by the ONCE Foundation of Spain was analyzed.

Another theme was the work of the Catholic University in rural establishments to the better use of energy in tourist farms.

Liberoff and Rifai also discussed the preparation of the next meeting of the commission of the Americas of the OMT to emphasize the multicasts.

“On that topic Uruguay It has experience and has worked over the years linking the promotion of destinations along with Argentina, Brazil and Chile and now, particularly with the recent start of operations Amaszonas airline, do the same with Paraguay and Bolivia, “said the interviewee.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants authorities will discuss preparations for the next general meeting of the WTO, to be held in October in the Colombian city of Medellin.
