Paraguay Minister of Tourism signed an agreement with the World Tourism Organization

The Minister of Tourism, Marcela Bacigalupo, signed an important framework agreement for International Cooperation with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), represented at the occasion by the Secretary General, Taleb Rifai.

This relationship is to contribute to economic growth, inclusive development and environmental sustainability through leadership, in addition to supporting the sec tor to expand the world’s knowledge and tourism policies.

Similarly, the holder of the SENATUR proceeded to the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Galicia, represented by the Director of Tourism, Nava Castro.

It seeks to develop and strengthen cooperation between Paraguay and Galicia in the field of tourism, given its importance as a determinant of economic development and understanding between the two sides factor.

Both firms were carried out in the Paraguayan stand of the International Tourism Fair in Spain FITUR 2015. The occasion was also present Carlos Vogeler, regional director for the Americas who highlighted the initiative of the institutions for global tourism.

“The agreement with UNWTO will allow officials of the Ministry of Tourism Paraguay can come to Madrid, at the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization, and to collaborate as part of their learning,” he said Vogeler.

“In addition, we are pleased to witness this union between Galicia and Paraguay, which has always existed, but now embodied in a paper,” he added.

Meanwhile, Castro said that with the partnership, both the Camino de Santiago (main attraction of the community in northeastern Spain) and the Jesuit Route Paraguay can achieve a “twinning”.

In turn, the Minister Bacigalupo said the goal of these initiatives is to demonstrate that tourism can be “the main protagonist of the inclusion of economic and social development” of our communities.
