Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from representatives of the Global Youth Leaders Development Program 2014, at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Prime Minister said in his address:

“I would like to extend my welcome to the people from around the world who are participating in the Global Youth Leaders Development Program. I offer you my heartfelt welcome.

Since assuming the office of Prime Minister, I have proactively visited countries all over the world, and have been developing strategic diplomacy that takes a panoramic perspective of the terrestrial globe.

In meeting many people, I have felt the extreme importance of how people-to-people connections give rise to relationships of trust. I believe that this truly is the foundation of diplomacy.

This Global Youth Leaders Development Program is a project in which youth coming from a variety of perspectives receive opportunities for growth and foster deep people-to-people connections.

I hope that you will all sincerely engage with your new friends, construct mutual relationships of trust, and become a bridge between Japan and other countries.

I would like to conclude my remarks by offering my wishes that this experience be a precious asset for all of your futures, that you will utilize this valuable experience to fulfill roles as leaders in each of your countries, and furthermore, that you will utilize this experience to make the world a better place.”
