The third WTM Latin America, which will take place from April 22 to 24 at the Expo Centre Norte in Sao Paulo, is delighted to welcome Colombia to the event for the first time this year. Promoting the rich history and diverse landscapes and cultures, Colombia plans to take advantage of the most international B2B event for the industry in the Americas.

The event that brings the world to Latin America and promotes Latin America to the world last year generated business deals in excess of $341 million (£206 million) and coincides with the 43rd Braztoa Business Meeting giving Colombia the ideal platform to meet the industry and do business.

With attractions ranging from the snow-capped volcanoes, rocky deserts, endless plains, lush valleys, coffee plantations, alpine lakes and deserted beaches, Colombia is an all-encompassing destination, with big plans for tourism in 2015, joining the likes of long-term exhibitors Chile, Mexico, and Peru, which have all increased their presence for 2015.

With the economy booming, Colombia arouses the interest of international markets, and especially the neighboring countries. Therefore, participation in WTM Latin America is crucial for the success of tourism moving forward.

Lawrence Reinisch, Exhibition Director, WTM Latin America, commented: “Colombia is a very important partner and I am extremely pleased to see the country’s interest in participating at WTM Latin America, which undoubtedly reflects the efforts of the Colombian government to further develop the economy, as the tourism sector is very strong there and is attracting visitors worldwide.”

“We are delighted to participate at this important event for the first time. We are sure it will be great exposure for our country. We will have the opportunity to present the unique experiences that make Colombia so magical,” says Alejandro Peláez, Director of PROCOLOMBIA in Brazil.

“We will have five operators from Colombia also exhibiting with us, and we look forward to taking advantage of all the great business opportunities that are available over the three days,” adds Peláez.

According to the statistics released by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) in 2014, the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of Colombia may exceed that of Argentina later this year, which would put the country as the third-largest economy in Latin America, behind Brazil and Mexico. Last year, Colombia received more than four million foreign tourists, an increase of 11.9% compared to 2013, according to the Colombian Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism proving that Colombia is certainly a country to look out for.

“Participating at WTM Latin America brings with it big benefits, not only to Colombia as they get to meet the senior industry buyers, attend the networking events and conduct their business deals, but also the 7,000 visitors that will get the chance to learn more about this great country and what it has to offer,” added Reinisch.

WTM Latin America has also partnered with the Colombian national airline, Avianca, and will offer discounts of up to 10% on airline tickets to the travel industry that plan to participate at WTM Latin America. Tickets must be purchased exclusively through the Avianca site ( by March 31. The benefit applies only to flights from April 17 and 29.

The discount includes various routes – from Latin America to Africa – in economy and business classes. To take advantage of the special discount delegates just need to type FR 081 in to the “discount code” section.
